Apprentice Line Technician III

JOB PURPOSE

Perform line construction and maintenance under the direction of a Journeyman rated Line Technician

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform line construction and maintenance of energized and de-energized overhead and URD distribution lines under the supervision of a Journeyman rated Line Technician. 
  • Patrol the line and check for defective materials, equipment or unsafe conditions; notify foreman or supervisor of problems found.
  • Perform the duties of groundman, equipment operator and lineman. See that trucks, tools, and assigned equipment are properly used and kept in good working order.
  • Respond to after-hours trouble on a rotating basis and is dependably available for duty during inclement weather adversely affecting the Cooperative’s electrical system.
  • Understand considerable hazards that exist, including falls, electric shock, electric flash, automobile traffic, and falling objects. Understand and utilize safety equipment.
  • Learn and comply with all safety policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Perform all other job-related duties assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or state equivalency certificate is required. Availability for and timely response to call-outs are required. A successful applicant must live or re-locate within 30 minutes of the Midway office.  Relocation assistance is not available for this position. No previous experience is required.  Technical Certificate in Lineman/Electrical Training is desired. Ability to read, analyze and interpret common technical journals, safety material, and other work-related documents. Ability to use standard office equipment and laptops. Ability to work nonstandard work hours or work week, possible overtime work, and to be “on-call” on a rotating basis. Must have or be able to attain a commercial driver’s license (CDL) within twelve (12) months of being hired as well as forklift certification.  Must have and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license. Must be able to lift up to seventy-five (75) pounds.

Work Environment

Ninety (90) percent of the duties of this job are performed outdoors as such the employee will be exposed to various weather conditions including extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in this environment is usually moderate. The employee will be required to utilize specific safety equipment and follow all safety rules.

Customer Service Representative III 

Job Purpose:

Provide customer service to our members and to the Customer Services team. Supply specialized contact in the provision of all services related to the responsibilities of Customer Services.

Duties:

Provide customer service via phone or in person.

Manage multiple tasks and adapt to the need of the individual.

Receive and process payments through phone, cash register, and night deposit box. Balance cash drawer daily and input deposit information on cash sheet.

Create service orders for new connects, disconnects, meter changes, and energy audits.

Schedule engineering and energy audit appointments.

Process applications for new service.

Explain bills, usage, and programs to members.

Make payment arrangements with members. 

Skills/Qualifications:

High school diploma or state equivalency certificate required.  Minimum of one year experience in a utility billing office, customer service call center, or other work related field with both telephone and direct customer contact.  Knowledge of basic business law and general accounting is required.  Must have previous cash handling experience with the ability to count back change.  Must have excellent organizational, time management, verbal and written communication skills.  Proficient in office automation technology, such as calculator, cash register, personal computer (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook) and the ability to handle confidential information. Must have and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license, as use of company vehicles may be required in this job.

Work Environment:  The duties of this job are performed indoors; sitting and standing long hours using a computer. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
